Music fit for Royalty

The MSO Chorus performs music fit for Royalty at this celebratory concert of choral music traditionally performed at British coronations.

Originally commissioned for the coronation of George II in 1727, Handel’s anthems Zadok the Priest, Let Thy Hand Be Strengthened, The King Shall Rejoice, and My Heart Is Inditing have regularly been included in coronations since.

This performance also includes additional works commissioned for these royal occasions, including recent compositions performed at King Charles III's coronation in May 2023.
